Subweb Technical Academy Pioneers Structured Dive Technician Training in Africa

18 April 2026

At Subweb Technical Academy, we are proud to announce the successful completion of our Free 10-Day Intensive Dive System Technician (Dive Tech) Training Program—a transformative initiative aimed at raising the standard of safety and technical competence in diving operations.

This achievement goes beyond training—it represents a deliberate step toward solving a real and growing challenge within the industry.

🌍 The Story Behind the Initiative

This program was not created by chance. It was born out of a pressing need to address recurring safety incidents in diving operations, many of which have been traced to unqualified personnel handling critical dive systems.

Recognizing this gap, Mr. Julius Ugwala, in his capacity as CID (Chief Inspector of Diving), took the bold step to initiate a structured training program that would restore professionalism, improve safety standards, and protect lives.

Too often, poorly trained technicians have found their way into sensitive diving environments, leading to system failures, unsafe practices, and avoidable risks. This initiative was designed as a direct response to that reality—to ensure that only properly trained and competent individuals are entrusted with such responsibilities.

🛠️ Building Competence Where It Matters Most

Over the course of 10 intensive days, participants were immersed in a hands-on learning environment that combined technical theory, practical exercises, and real-world simulations.

  • 3-Man Dive Panel Operations – Mastering communication and control systems during dive procedures
  • High & Low Pressure Gauge Handling – Accurate monitoring and interpretation of pressure systems
  • Dive System Monitoring & Safety Checks – Maintaining strict safety protocols at all times
  • Air Supply Systems & Compressor Basics – Understanding the lifeline of every diver
  • Equipment Handling & System Maintenance – Ensuring reliability and longevity of dive systems
  • And much more…

Each participant was not just trained, but tested and certified, ensuring they meet the standard required to operate in real-world conditions.

🔐 Redefining Safety Through Skill

Behind every safe dive operation is a competent Dive Technician—a professional responsible for ensuring that all systems function flawlessly before, during, and after a dive.

Safety in diving is not accidental—it is engineered by skilled hands.

By addressing the root cause of many operational failures—lack of proper training—this initiative is helping to reshape the future of diving safety across the region.

🎓 Certification with Purpose

Participants who completed the program successfully were awarded certification, symbolizing more than just attendance. It reflects:

  • Proven technical understanding
  • Hands-on operational competence
  • A commitment to safety and professionalism

These newly trained technicians are now better equipped to prevent incidents, protect divers, and uphold industry standards.

🔭 Looking Ahead: A Safer Future Begins Here

The success of this program marks the beginning of a broader mission—to build a skilled, safety-conscious workforce across Africa’s diving and offshore sectors.

  • Expanding access to high-quality technical training
  • Bridging the gap between theory and real-world practice
  • Raising the standard of professionalism in the industry

More programs, more impact, and more opportunities are on the horizon.

This initiative stands as a powerful reminder that meaningful change often begins with recognizing a problem—and taking decisive action to solve it.

Thanks to the vision behind this program and the dedication of its participants, we are one step closer to a future where every dive is supported by qualified, competent, and safety-driven technicians.

Because ultimately, behind every safe dive is a skilled technician ensuring everything works perfectly.
